Walter

Part 11

Every night: just before he falls asleep
Walter coughs. Having never slept
in a room with another person, he thinks
that everybody coughs just before they fall
asleep. That's his world.

...deep down doesn't everyone think that they are the archetype of normal. It's not like we're Deana Troy from Star Trek the Next Generation and can sense what each other is feeling now is it?
...now that's a cool thought... being apart of a conscious collective. You couldn't hide your feelings at all. *oh* What a crazy thought. Yuck! LOL! I'm glad I can BELIEVE everyone is like me, and loves me, and shares the same outlook on life as me.

So I was thinking about it and really that whole conscious collective sounds much more like the Borg. The borg is a collective mind, orchestrated by the Borg Queen and controlled from a central hub, the Uni-Complex. According to themselves, the Borg only seek to "improve the quality of life in the universe" and add to their own perfection. To this end, they travel the galaxy, improving their numbers and advancing by "assimilating" other species and technologies, and forcing captured individuals under the control of the Hive mind by injecting them with nanoprobes. They harbor no ill will to anyone; they merely fulfil their biological or programmatic imperative to assimilate. As they say, "You will be assimilated – resistance is futile." They make good on that threat by their ability to quickly adapt to any attack to render it harmless. Thus, any successful defense depends on the ingenuity of the opponent to find a method to stop the Borg completely before they can neutralize it.

The first formal contact of Starfleet with the Borg occurs by interference from Q in Star Trek: The Next Generation, episode "Q Who?". Q transported the Enterprise-D to System J-25, in the Delta Quadrant just long enough to expose them to the Borg. The Enterprise was hopelessly overpowered, and Q brought them home after their confrontation. Q says something to the effect of "Now that they know about you, they will never stop until they find you." However, Picard later realized that the Borg cube was already on a heading towards Federation space, and in effect Q gave them an advanced warning, doing the right thing for the wrong reason.

Nicki my dear friend, the transformation into a geek has progressed to the last phase which of development. Preceeding with exposure to programming and webpage development your exceeded our expectations. This last step is achieving a recognized Techno Geek Status (tech-head, Fancy lad, gamer,... the list goes on) is to expose you to random jots of treky trivia, in the hopes that the beauty and brilliant of Gene Roddenberry's creation will be revealed. MuHahaha - "You will be assimilated – resistance is futile."

Ok so... how about that Vegas poll? What does it say about me that Star Trek gets more anonymous commentators than Tom Jones or Willie Nelson? Eeek I don't really want to know...
