ouch

"Raytheon unveiled Silent Guardian, a device that radiates unbearable pain. "You don't have time to think about it," said an executive. "You just run." The ray gun, Raytheon promised, will not be sold to countries with questionable human rights records, although it will be used by the United States in Iraq."

Check out the sketchy website here. And be sure to watch the cheesy video. Sometime I can't even read this thing cuz it makes me so mad.

same old same old

I know I been talking a lot about a to-do list lately, but I'm still talking about it. There are not enough freaking hours in the day to do everything that I need to do, so I'm writing them down and I'm crossing them out (albeit slowly). Hold onto your horses, cuz here we go...

- figure out plumbing stack hole and subsequent roof leak
- tar the flashing around abandoned plumbing stack
- find someone in town to size a silver ring (there's been 2 no's so far)
- get my winter coat drycleaned
- buy a camera bag for my new camera
- buy some kind of laptop case for travelling that's not $100
- find non-stay-up stockings and a garter belt by wednesday
- find a parasol and fancy fans
- make a doctors appt for flaring eczema
- get 3 blazers and 1 skirt tailored
- buy birk sandals
- book airline tickets for Florida
- find sexy yet comfortable easily removable high heels
- get $800 worth of work done on my truck
- find time to sit at Kal-Tire to wait for my slow leak to be patched
- take lazy boy orange tweed chair to my brothers new house
- take dresser and mirror to mom's place
- reorganize bedroom furniture yet again
- find some perfect jeans

Did I mention I've been dreaming of a condo? One with two large bedrooms that have no problems properly housing a bed and a bedside table, one with heated underground parking and no sidewalks to shovel? I love having the space of a house, but man, I continually feel like I cannot keep up with running one alone. I'm gonna stay put for one more winter but seriously, we'll see what happens come spring. I think maybe all that I need to be happy is a balcony and a view.

tres amusant

I find it really funny that my to-do list includes both getting my truck idler arm fixed and shopping for a parasol.

I don't suck!

So I signed up for two dance classes this fall. They started tonight with a Level II Modern class, and all day today I was getting more and more nervous thinking about the fact that I haven't taken a dance class in years and years, and I'm carrying a lot of padding if you know what I mean, and it was all weird at the beginning when I got there because a) most of them are 22 and b) most of them are size 2 and c) everyone was wearing head to to black except me in my bright pink gauchos. We spend about 1/2 hr doing warm up excercizes with plies and frisses and rond de jambes and I was keeping up and feeling good about it, standing 2nd in line behind the returning stars of the class. Then she made us turn around and I watched all the young ones behind me falter their way through shit that I was having no problem doing. Then we started doing travelling routines across the room in pairs and I was good, dammit! I was good! Maybe not as good as the guy above, but dude, I so didn't suck. Whee for me!

key-riste

I got so much to do, won't someone kick me in the ass? I know this feeling, and it's not really a good one, feeling overwhelmed by the things I ought to do and doing nothing instead, whiling away the hours in front of the tv or computer, when I should be phoning the shingle place back to tell them can't charge me $150 for work I never authorized, or getting my truck tire fixed, or finally deciding to get a cell phone, or getting over the emotional hump of going to Broadway to get some decent sandals for my poor broken feet and our forthcoming trip to Disneyworld, or getting rid of the piles of clothes that I was determined to sell at a garage sale this summer, or getting a new computer desk and somehow dealing with the old one, or hey how about that layer of dust that's settled over everything? The bathroom floor strewn with stray hairs? I'm seriously considering getting a maid. How effing posh and/or lazy would that really be?

arrghh

underneath and it's not far away enough yet
2 digits away from dialing by memory (mistake)
my heart jumped yesterday and what would you have said?
I realized by the zero that I was calling the completely wrong person.

I am TIRED of doing everything alone.
Tired of not knowing and having to ask about brake sensors
and shingles and why can't anyone else mop the kitchen floor?
Cuz there ain't no one else here, that's why.
I'm glad I'm not unhappy and trapped but
man, it would sure be nice to be in like.

promise me this

If yer visitor #10,000, will you please leave me some well-wishes? The way I see it, you kind of owe me. No, I'm not bitchy from working 10hr days all week. Leave me alone. Gah.

just another day at the office...

toothpaste for dinner
Especially the pregnant ones. I bring pounds of fresh vegetables weekly (and share). No scurvy for you!

hindsight is 20/20

It's probably not the best career move to drunkenly tell your (drunk) supervisors about that time you did acid 15 years ago after being awake for 26hrs straight and hallucinating that you were in a cardboard box going through customs. Just sayin'.
