Feist

The Junos are coming up this Sunday, and I'm totally excited about it. Love the Junos. They are so much better than the Grammys or the Emmys or the Oscars or anything else. With the Junos you know it's a low budget Canadian awards ceremony, and they sure don't pretend to be anything else. The fuck-ups are all part of the fun! Last year, we watched and toasted everytime they said "Nickelback", and got pretty tipsy by the end of the night. This year, I think it has to be Avril or Shania, although I hate Shania so much that I'm going to refuse to lift my glass to her no matter what the occasion. This chick above is nominated for New Artist of the Year, and also Video of the Year. She's cool. And soooo sexy.

custom car show

Went with Jenn last night to the Draggin's Car Show at SaskPlace Credit Union Centre. Oh to be in a different city for things like this! In my head, there's rockabilly bands, boys with cuffed jeans and grease in their hair, girls in poodle skirts and cat's-eye glasses (and beer). In the real world, there's farmer Howard with his big fucking beer gut and bad farmer jeans and old ladies with embroidered sweatshirts... and no drinks cuz it's Good Friday. Oh well. We were the coolest kids on the block, eating our corn dogs and checking out the rides. One of my faves up top, and the type of Mustang that makes Jenn drool, bottom. In another life, along with being a sultry jazz singer, I would like to be a cool-ass grease monkey. Wanna come hang in my garage?

March 20th - April 12th - enjoy!

Mercury retrograde gives rise to personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains. It is therefore not wise to make important decisions while Mercury is retrograde, since it is very likely that these decisions will be clouded by misinformation, poor communication and careless thinking.

Mercury's retro phase tends to bring unforeseen changes and blockages, but the aggravation and frustration that many of us experience during these periods is often due to our own inability to roll with the punches. Is this due to our ego-fixation? Mercury sets out to restructure our thinking processes and for many of us this is painful and frustrating. Moreover, these experiences reveal flaws in our internal organisation as well as our external planning, which can make us feel foolish and inadequate.

When Mercury is retrograde, everyone's thinking is more introspective and we tend to think about issues and concerns which relate to the sign involved. There is little choice but to reconsider our personal views and opinions about life. There is, however, an opportunity to gain insight into our own ego.

All areas of communication are affected, especially in any pioneering activity, or matters requiring decisive action. This period brings travel snafus and missed appointments of all kinds.

I wonder when people will start saying "everybody and their blog",
instead of "everybody and their dog"?

whatever happened to the bowlmaker?

I went for lunch with my old pal Ed and his girlfriend yesterday. They were driving through town after visiting the farm near Yorkton that he is from. I haven't seen him in over 2 yrs, despite the fact that he was a really good friend of mine when we met 10 yrs ago in University. At the time, he was a 7th Day Adventist and I was a hippie with a red Volkswagon van. But now, let's talk about now, he lives in Fernie, B.C. with the woman of his dreams, they recently bought a house together and they are happy happy happy and I am happy happy happy for them. It's strange, growing out of friendships, like growing out of a favourite pair of pants, so comfortable and comforting, and then gone. Anyway, the point of this story is that they stopped by to see my house, and then out of the blue he asks if he can have his bowls back. Says he figures he just kind of lent them to me, which I guess he did. He had made a whole set of dishes for a friend of his that was getting married and then didn't send them for fear of breaking, so a long time ago he lent me these 3 beautiful handmade bowls and 3 little matching plates. And now, he's taken them back. And to those of you that know this story, that's pretty fucking funny.

The Net Wt. of Winter is 6.75 Ozs.

The net wt. of winter is 6.75 ozs.
and winter has a regular flavor
with Flouristan to stop tooth decay.

A month ago I bought a huge tube
of Crest tooth paste and when I put it
in the bathroom, I looked at it
and said, "Winter."

pretty in pink

No, she's not number 5, but this is possibly the best photo I've ever seen of her. Plus, it was time for some pink, in more ways than one.

Went and saw a wee jazz show tonight as part of the local women's festival, and it was great. They did a cover of Eva Cassidy's cover of "Fields of Gold" by Sting, and it was so breathtakingly pretty. I can't keep my jazz divas straight for the life of me, but I'd sure like to start. Gillian, the singer, was telling some good stories of being inspired by such and such a singer, it made me want to learn and listen so much more. The band was great too. It's been a while since I've seen another stand-up bass player and although I never really played jazz, I sure miss the full sound of that big beast. Maybe one of these days I'll break my year+ long hiatus with it and give 'er another go. I don't play much music these days, due to the painful fork in the road that happened last winter. I don't regret the choice, but I do miss it. Being engulfed by the music, and performing to a happy crowd, and the singing too. In another life I would like to come back as a sultry singer.

And of course, Roy kicked his usual ass on the vibraphone.

freebies 1 & 3

We had the big discussion tonight about the five freebies... you know, the list of five celebrities that you can sleep with without your partner getting upset. These two men are at the top of my list. And wouldn't you know it, Angelina Jolie is on Scott's.

So who's on yours?
